Looking for some fun family activities to keep you busy over half term?

We have found a bunch of ten fun and inclusive half term activities that cater for all families and nannies as well as those with children who have additional needs. We have come up with a mix of activities you can enjoy at home, as well as some exciting trips for some socially distanced fun.

  1. Sensory tent – fill a pop-up tent with all kinds of everyday items from fairy lights to bubble wrap, to help let your child explore their senses.
  2. Dance competition – put on some fun music and dance your heart out! (Just Dance is also a great game for releasing that energy and learning some funky moves).
  3. Fun science experiments – watch your child’s amazement at some cool science fun, try popping some mentos into coca-cola and watch as it erupts with foam. Check out these experiments from good housekeeping.
  4. Go to a trampoline park – when the kiddos need to release some energy, why not take a trip to a trampoline park. Plenty of parks across the UK have safely reopened for you to enjoy jumping around.
  5. Scrapbook – Gather up all your favourite family photos and put together a memory book, go all out with glitter and decorations and make it as special as possible.
  6. Make tie dye t-shirts – prepare to get messy and make some matching t-shirts, use eye capturing bright colours for extra fun. Here is a great tutorial on how to tie dye.
  7. Go bowling – Plenty of bowling alleys have opened up again, so why not have a family day out and knock down those pins!
  8. Make your own pairs – Take photos of your family/dog/food and then make your own matching playing cards with them. Play snap or pairs and think of a fun prize for the winner.
  9. Go to a pumpkin patch – Find a local farm selling pumpkins and go and choose the perfect pumpkin. Have fun carving your pumpkin for Halloween, here are some super easy pumpkin carving ideas.
  10. Kinetic sand – Kinetic sand is available to purchase from most toy stores and is great for sensory play. It falls like sand but moulds like dough. Make sure you use a tray or mat so that it doesn’t go everywhere. Why not try making your own Kinetic Sand!
