A lovely family based in Penn, Buckinghamshire is seeking a Live-In Junior Nanny to care for their bright, curious 18 month old toddler.
This is a long-term, full-time position for someone who genuinely loves working with young children and takes pride in creating a happy, stimulating and well-structured environment in which a child can thrive. You will be provided with private live-in accommodation, including your own bedroom and bathroom. All living costs will be covered, including utilities and food.
The family is looking for someone warm and intuitive, but equally organised, proactive and confident in managing the day independently. The successful candidate will become a trusted and valued part of family life, working closely with both parents and taking genuine ownership of their child’s routine, development and wellbeing.
The focus of the role is providing exceptional, attentive care throughout the day, with plenty of opportunity for play, exploration and learning.
You will plan and lead age-appropriate activities, organise outings and classes, prepare nutritious meals and maintain a consistent and enjoyable daily rhythm. Just as importantly, you will bring warmth, patience and a reassuring presence to the child’s everyday life.
Both parents work full time, so the family are looking for someone who is confident taking the initiative, anticipating the child’s needs and communicating openly and thoughtfully with parents.
The hours required are Monday to Friday, 06.00-19.00 (65 hours/week). Occasional flexibility will be required, including the opportunity to travel with the family from time to time. Any travel will be discussed and arranged with advance notice wherever possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Providing loving, attentive and developmentally appropriate care throughout the day
• Creating a stimulating environment through thoughtful, age-appropriate play and activities
• Supporting the child’s speech, social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
• Preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks suited to the child’s age and dietary needs
• Maintaining the child’s daily routine, including naps, mealtimes and bedtime wind-down where required
• Taking the child to weekly classes, activities and outings and confidently managing the associated logistics
• Keeping the child’s nursery, play areas and belongings clean, tidy and beautifully organised
• Taking care of the child’s laundry, including washing, drying and organising clothing and bedding
• Undertaking light housekeeping relating specifically to the child and their spaces
• Accompanying the family on occasional domestic and international travel
• Keeping parents thoughtfully informed about the child’s day, development, milestones, health and general wellbeing
• Providing a calm, consistent and reassuring presence, particularly through periods of illness, change or developmental transition
The candidate will ideally have:
• At least two years’ professional nanny or childcare experience, supported by strong references from previous families
• Proven experience caring for toddlers at a similar developmental stage
• A naturally warm, patient and nurturing manner, with a genuine love of working with children
• Confidence creating and leading stimulating, educational and age-appropriate activities
• Excellent organisation and the ability to take responsibility for the day with confidence and initiative
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with parents
• Fluent English; additional languages would be welcomed
• Flexibility, discretion and a positive attitude towards occasional travel and changes to routine
• Non-smoker
• A careful and confident driver with your own car and a clean licence. Duty mileage will be reimbursed.
Above all, the family are looking for someone who is kind, dependable and emotionally attuned — someone who will take real pride in knowing the child well and becoming a trusted member of their household. The family is looking for someone who would like to muck in and become part of the family.
