10 Quarantine-tastic Halloween Ideas for Nannies and Families 2020

Halloween 2020 is going to be one to remember – so let’s make it a good one. This year Halloween falls on a Saturday, meaning we have a whole day to eat sweeties, wear spooky costumes, and create creepy crafts. There’s even going to be a full moon! – aah-oooooooooh!
We have put together a list of quarantine-tastic ideas you can use to safely celebrate Halloween 2020! From ghoulish games to beastly bakes, we are sure you will find something frightfully fun to do.
Nannies, dress up and have fun in Half Term with your charges, making Halloween 2020 one to remember!
- Halloween Bingo – Put together some bingo cards using images of pumpkins, witches, and all things spooky, and then a designated ‘caller’ can call out the items and the first to get all their items crossed off wins! Artsy-Fartsy Mama has a great printable you can use!
- Pumpkin Carving/ Decorating – Pumpkin carving is a classic Halloween activity – any kiddo is bound to enjoy it. But have you tried ‘decorating’ your pumpkins instead? There are plenty of No-Carve fun pumpkin activities, from painting cobwebs on them, to creating pumpkin disco balls by covering them in glitter. - Magic Tricks – There are plenty of children’s Magic Kits out today, so why not get your hands on one and start making magic!
- Halloween Dance Party – Just because trick or treating might be off the table, that doesn’t mean your costume has to go to waste. Turn that monster music up, put on your best costume and get dancing! – Don’t forget to keep your energy up with plenty of Halloween treats!
- Ghosting – A new Halloween trend has been to ‘ghost’ people by creating little bags of Halloween goodies and leaving them on your friend’s doorstep with a note encouraging them to ‘ghost’ someone else.
- Halloween ‘Easter Egg Hunt” – Don’t let all those sweeties go to waste! Why not have a Halloween sweetie hunt around the house and garden whoever finds the most goodies wins!
- Autumn Scavenger Hunt – Before Halloween was spooky, it was all about autumn! Why not get some fresh air and have a go at an autumnal scavenger hunt. Head to the woods and get hunting! Here is a great printable with cryptic clues from Little Green Explorers.
- Pumpkin Cakes – Got any leftovers from pumpkin carving? Put them to good use by making some yummy pumpkin treats. Here is a great list of pumpkin cakes from Country Living to try out!
- Ghost Story Campfire – This one is pretty self-explanatory; why not gather around the campfire (or indoor fire) and read some super child friendly ghost stories, like Casper the Friendly Ghost, and Wendy the Good Little Witch – why not make s ’mores at the same time?
- At Home Cinema – Turn the lounge into a cinema by turning off the lights and getting comfy with some popcorn. Put on your favourite Halloween movie and enjoy! – You could even order a takeaway to add that little bit of extra pizazz.
